Hi IV'ers,
Today IV is a 10000 member organization!
Thank you everyone who participated in the campaign!
Three important next steps:
1. Let us all (every member), start and continue working on the IV action items such as "Meet your Lawmakers", "Call Lawmakers", etc. If we can do these now, we will definitely be able to influence the upcoming votes in the House and Senate on the immigration bills. And these bills are coming pretty soon (in a matter of weeks). So now is the time to act!
2. Let us all contribute as much as possible now. OUr donations will help IV in its lobbying effort. The more financially strong IV is, the better it can work support on the hill.
3. Last but not the least, we cannot stop at 10000. The stronger our numbers are, the more effective we can be (both in campaigns, as well as financially). So I am upping the target here. Please help introduce ONE member to IV by the end of April. If everyone of us added just ONE member by end of April 2007, we would be a 20000 member strong team.
20000 might look daunting, but's it's really not every individual just took care of his one member.

I am looking for advice on the strategy for filing the third phase since the PDs for my wife and me have become current. My PD is Feb 2003 (EB2) and my wife's is June 2003 (EB3). My wife and I are on 8-th yr H-1B extensions with approved I-140s. Which strategy makes sense and are they even valid? The objective is to go with a risk-free strategy that gets us the GC in the quickest manner.
1. I apply for I-485 (AOS) using my PD, with my wife as dependent. And my wife applies for I-485 (AOS) using her PD, with me as dependent.
2. I apply for I-485 (AOS) using my PD, with my wife as dependent. And my wife applies for Consular Processing using her PD, with me as dependent. OR vice versa.
3. Any other option?

Counsular processing(CP) or AOS is determined according to individual situation. It depends on Job-stability, lot of factors. you should do what works for you after careful evaluation, not hedge your bets by doing 2 applications. Just do one way, either use your PD or your wife's and do one application for I-485. Whichever has the best chance with the lowest rate of RFI. whoever wants to stick around longer in their job (you or wife?) should apply, it will take a year+ for that person to stay in the job before final physical card and then 6 more months. Talk to your attorney.

If you expect IV and it's members to be sympathetic to your cause - start promoting IV. First step is to add a link to IV in your website. Second would be to post about IV action Items there and encouragement to EV members to participate in IV actions. I'm sure IV will reciprocate quid pro quo.
Many of us do sympathize with your cause, but right now we are fighting a lonely battle against injustices against us. Will EV be our (IVs) friend in this struggle?

We don't need to alert the general public about our issues.
What we need to do is alert people who can make a difference.
Also, the costs are huge for news paper advertisements and may also irritate the general public.
Now that we have the people aware through Flowers, we can go for the big kill.
Advertize in Newspapers in D.C., State capitals or National newspapers

I got greened today, surprisingly. Could anyone let me know what are the good numbers to reach a human in USCIS, hopefully with less wait time. I wanted to check with them what address they have on file. I filed an address change in JUne but I am not sure if they have it right in their systems. Also, is there a way to get this information without calling them.

They will not answer that. If you have filed via AR-11, you can assume it goes into their system instantly. I was in the same situation. I change my address in November, docs delivered in Dec came at the new address.

Of course the plan is not to imitate what Canada has directly, I'm sure the current job offer would have a big role, it does in canada too to a certain extent.
Also the EB queue needs to be considered while moving to the skill based one.

Canadian_dream, i fully agree and i have no intention of saying someone else is not productive.
I choose to see things this way for me. I just started an active life style, not too long ago.
I think i was quite productive before taking up some exercise.
would you agree that making some active choices in life style are better, and will help improve productivity a bit...

If you read my any previous posts and to repeat, there will be no issue to contribute from me or most of us here. We need an action item. Anyone with minimum common knowledge here sees there is no change in dates for the last 6 months, or even last few years. You seem to be a strong supporter of contributions, can you list one action item which we planned to take up in the last or in near future that addresses our concerns of backlogs. Now dont come back and tell me or send me a picture of July 07 campaign or your 12th grade or 10th grade marksheet. We need to be doing things of our interest EVERY single day. I do my job very good.. I know.. but I have to keep doing it everyday if I have to keep it. Similarly unless you put continuous efforts, you wont get continuous results.

Is this done before you apply for after you apply for I-485??..I called one of the doctor and they said that once you apply uscis will direct you to get the tests done...is this true??..

Can we make all threads for only members for a short period of time and see the results if it is an easy thing to do ?

I think the reason that we do not have many members is that many people go to the website immigration voice and as the access is avaliable to read all posts without a log in and password they read and never want to become a member.
do u think this can be one of the reasons.

A small advice for non contributing members, try skipping your lunch once a week and save $20 a month for IV, this way you help yourself too by loosing those extra pounds.:p
