Back in November 2007, I blogged about these creations from British designer
Antonio Berardi. These shoes made such an impact on the runway at the
Spring/ Summer Collection in
Paris and the models worked them like heels never existed. They have a
5 1/2in platform and can hardly be described as high heels, since they lack the most important part - a heel.
Stars including
Gwyneth Paltrow and
Uma Thurman invested in a black patent version costing more than
£1,100, shortly after they were unveiled in
Berardi's spring/summer collection in Paris. And
Victoria Beckham has a snakeskin pair. For the bargain price of
£1,800, the wearer will get to totter around with all her weight balanced on a thickened platform sole.
Now all I need is a crash helmet and an instructions manual.

Lily Aldridge attends Gap Design Editions launch celebration at Rockefeller Plaza gallery, April 14, 2008, wearing Antonio Berardi's heel-less platform shoes. See, they are wearable!!!
